Placement Services
Vocational job placement services are an integral component of the vocational program at Skills Unlimited. Any client enrolled in our vocational training programs is eligible to receive these placement services.
Employment Coaching
As part of its placement services program, Skills Unlimited offers individual and group job placement training sessions focusing on various job related and job seeking skills including but not limited to:
- Resume development and updating
- Job search methods
- Development of interviewing skills
- Research gathering
Clients discuss with placement experts the issues that are central to a successful job placement effort. The goals and aspirations of each student are thoroughly explored, ensuring a career that is both satisfying and fulfilling. A number of our clients have been interviewed as well as hired before their placement training is completed.
On-The-Job Assessment
Skills Unlimited follows up on all job placements to not only aid with the client’s transition to competitive employment but also to ensure their employment success. Our placement follow-ups include visits to the job site (at the clients request only) and discussions with current or prospective employers regarding our trainees. It also entails seeking alternate employment should initial efforts indicate such is needed.
VESID
Skills Unlimited is well known to the New York State Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Persons with Disabilities (VESID). While we accept a significant number of referrals from this agency, persons are encouraged to apply on their own by contacting us by phone, fax or e-mail.
