Training Programs
Vocational training courses with the goal of competitive placement are a highlighted feature of Skills Unlimited. Comprehensive curriculums that reflect the needs of today’s employers are tailored to meet the needs of each of our clients.
To aid in successful completion of the vocational training, each client is assigned a vocational counselor who monitors progress and maintains close contact with each student. Counselors are available daily to discuss with clients their concerns and efforts toward their particular goals. The Rehab Counselor is the ‘point’ person for each client, ensuring a tailored training program for each student. Through the Rehabilitation Counselor, clients receive those specific services unique to their needs.
The following is a detailed outline of the vocational training programs we offer.
Automotive Service & Repair
Here our clients learn the basics (and beyond) of the multi-faceted world of auto repair and service. Clients learn basic tasks including oil changes, fluid replacement and tire safety as well as more involved procedures such as brake replacement and engine tune-ups. To stay abreast of this rapidly evolving field, the most recent diagnostic tools are also featured.
Building Maintenance & Custodial Training
Office cleaning, floor cleaning, floor stripping and waxing along with rug shampooing and bathroom care are all included in this program. Contracts with local airports and a number of state industries are a major part of this extensive training. Our clients utilize these off-site facilities to gain exposure to different environments and alternate procedures employed in custodial services.
Business Training & Medical Office Worker
An encompassing curriculum that covers the most popular software programs is central to this training program. From data entry to more complex applications, this area of study prepares the client for the office environment
Food Service
The food industry abounds with opportunity. Food preparation, Deli Counter Service, Baking, Catering and all general topics associated with this expanding industry are covered. Clients in this program operate our kitchen as part of their training.
Industrial Assembly & Warehousing
For those interested in multitask operations that require assembly, packaging, sorting collating and quality control of assorted merchandise, our Industrial Workshop offers a wide variety of skill training. Our clients learn to use packaging machinery, warehouse equipment and an extensive assortment of tools.
